For Chicken
- 500g boneless chicken (small cubes)
- 2 onions (finely sliced)
- 2 tomatoes (chopped)
- 2 green chilies
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 3 tbsp cooking oil
For Garnishing
- Fresh coriander
- Fried onions
- Lemon slices
Step-by-Step Cooking Instructions
Step 1 – Wash & Soak the Rice
Wash the Al-Marwa Basmati Rice thoroughly until the water runs clear. Soak the rice for 25–30 minutes to achieve long, fluffy grains after cooking.
Step 2 – Prepare the Rice
In a large pot, boil water and add cinnamon, bay leaves, cardamom, and salt. Add the soaked rice and cook until it is 80% done. Drain the rice and set aside.
Step 3 – Cook the Chicken Masala
Heat oil in a pan and fry sliced onions until golden brown. Add ginger garlic paste and cook for a minute. Add chicken cubes and cook until the color changes.
Now add tomatoes, green chilies, red chili powder, turmeric, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook on medium heat until the chicken becomes tender and the masala thickens beautifully.
Step 4 – Layer the Rice
In a large cooking pot, spread a layer of rice followed by a layer of chicken masala. Repeat the layers until all rice and chicken are used.
Top with fried onions and fresh coriander for extra aroma and flavor.
Step 5 – Steam the Rice
Cover the pot tightly and cook on low heat (dum) for 15–20 minutes. This allows the rice to absorb all the delicious flavors and aromas perfectly.
Serving Suggestion
Serve hot with yogurt sauce, fresh salad, mint chutney, or raita for the ultimate dining experience.
The fluffy texture and rich aroma of Al-Marwa Basmati Rice make this dish truly unforgettable.
