Korean BBQ Fried Rice – A Smoky & Spicy Street-Style Favorite

Ingredients

For Rice

  • 3 cups cooked premium basmati rice
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

For Chicken

  • 500g boneless chicken cubes
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Korean chili paste (gochujang)
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp honey
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil

Vegetables

  • 1 carrot (julienned)
  • 1 red bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 green onions (sliced)
  • 1 cup cabbage (shredded)

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp brown sugar

Garnish

 

  • Sesame seeds
  • Fried egg (optional)
  • Fresh green onions

Instructions

Step 1 – Prepare the Chicken

In a bowl, mix chicken with soy sauce, gochujang, garlic paste, honey, salt, and pepper.

Marinate for 20–30 minutes.


Step 2 – Cook the Chicken

Heat oil in a wok or large pan.

Cook the marinated chicken on high heat until smoky, caramelized, and fully cooked.

Remove and set aside.


Step 3 – Stir-Fry the Vegetables

In the same pan, sauté onions, carrots, cabbage, and bell peppers for 2–3 minutes until slightly crisp.


Step 4 – Prepare the Sauce

Mix soy sauce, chili sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar, and brown sugar in a small bowl.

Pour the sauce into the pan and stir well.


Step 5 – Add the Rice

Add cooked basmati rice and sesame oil.

Mix everything on high flame until the rice absorbs the smoky BBQ flavors.


Step 6 – Final Assembly

Add cooked chicken back into the wok and toss everything together for 2 minutes.

Top with sesame seeds, chopped green onions, and a fried egg if desired.
